Machine translation is now good at repetitive text, and there is no point competing with it there. It remains poor at anything where tone carries as much as meaning — and it cannot be held responsible for what it produces.
We translate between Chinese and French, and from English into French, always into the language our translators command best. A literature degree is not a translation diploma, and we do not claim otherwise: we work on correspondence, editorial content and organisational documents, and leave certified documents to sworn translators.
